De SATA Foundation is in mei 2001 in Zwitserland opgericht als non-profit organisatie. Lees hier de mission statement van de stichting.
De primaire taak van de SATA Foundation is het wereldwijd verspreiden van het verhaal van de Madonna van Nagasaki. De SATA Foundation coördineert ook de campagne om steun te verwerven om het beeld op de Wereld Erfgoedlijst te krijgen.
